“Hello, hello turn your radio on
Is there anybody out there?
Help me sing my song
La la la life is a strange thing
Just when you think you learned how to use it
It’s gone” *
I keep hearing “Shakespeare Sisters” song “Hello” in my head for the last few days. “Is there anybody out there?” they sing, and it made me wonder.
I guess I’m wondering if anyone actually read my notes; and if there is, I hope that you will stick around for more.
I wrote about twenty versions of my intro to my new blog in English.
In the end a line from a song expressed exactly what I wanted to say.
Funny thing about writing, there are days that I want to write about so many things. Food, fashion, music, guys, friends, or just about my crazy Uber driver. And there are days, even months, that I’m not able to write one word.
I have been writing for as long as I can remember; as a teenager, I wrote letters to my parents to share the private thoughts that I could not express face to face. I even started writing my own book when I was in college. Sharing with people about my love life and dating life. I only wrote seven chapters… it is hidden somewhere in my college memories box.
Two years ago I started to share my thoughts with the world in “Relocationotes” blog. I was writing in Hebrew, and with all due respect to my mother tongue and my family, friends, and my Hebrew followers, I think it is about time to leave my comfort zone, and add new people that will join my ride.
I decided to switch to English three month ago. “I will start to write in English next week”, I declared to my Israeli friends.
“Ohhh wow, this is huge. Are you going to have a new website? And what about editing? Hagar, you have excellent English and people forgive you for your mistakes but writing it is completely different story”, they replied. They kept asking more questions, and my resolve to write in English began to slip away.
“No! I am not going to let the uncertainties take me down”, I said to myself.
So here I am, three months later, writing my first post in English on my new website and inviting you to join me.
Yalla! Let’s do it
